Minor League Baseball Top Performers

The top pitching prospect in the game debuted and the rest of full-season leagues joined Triple-A in play on Friday night as the minor league season is now truly underway!

Hitter of the Day
Portland infielder David Hamilton was originally drafted by the Brewers out of Texas in the 8th round in 2019. He missed the 2020 season but worked his way up to Double-A in 2021 before he came to the Boston Red Sox organization as part of the Hunter Renfroe trade. It would be hard to have a better first night with a new organization than what Hamilton did on Friday, going 4-5 with three runs scored, seven RBI, a triple, two home runs, and a stolen base while leading off for the Sea Dogs.

Pitcher of the Day
Part of an elite group of arms in the mid-2010s at Florida, Shaun Anderson was originally drafted by the Red Sox in 2016, but he has bounced around plenty in his time being traded twice and waived four times in his career. The Blue Jays claimed him in November and he opened the season on Triple-A Buffalo’s roster, where he hurled a gem as part of a doubleheader on Friday, going six innings, allowing three hits and a walk, striking out eight as the Bison defeated Iowa in the doubleheader finale 1-0.

After 6 years of writing for FanSided on various sites and offering contributions to various other websites, family changes have encouraged me to start this site. I spend a ton of time watching baseball at all levels, but I love watching minor league baseball on milb.tv as I'm hours away from the closest minor league team. This is an effort of all those games I enjoy on a daily basis!
