Welcome to the Grand Opening!
Like many places, the doors opened already, but today is finally the moment you’ve been waiting for, the grand opening – when this site begins to look like the type of site that you not only want to bookmark, but to hopefully make a daily visit.
In today’s writing to be released, I will have my first MLB mock draft of the year. My mock drafts always go through the first set of competitive balance selections (commonly abbreviated as the CBA round). This year, that covers 41 selections and includes 5 picks for the Arizona Diamondbacks, but not one single pick for the Boston Red Sox.
Another item to be released is my system rankings. This is something I spend a lot of time on, not so much worried about the specific rank of each individual team, but where they are as far as groupings relative to other teams. One interesting thought from the exercise is how much deeper systems are getting in general around the game. Whether that’s due to seeing how the Cubs and Astros did their rebuilds and how the Astros are sustaining success or if it’s simply due to economics of a good development system keeping payroll costs down, the depth in systems is notable.
I’ll also have a couple of pieces on the start of the year and where to find players, first a piece on the Braves organizational chart, something I’ll be keeping updated throughout the year. The other piece will be one on where each member of the top 100 players in my top 150 started his season in 2019.
I’ll also be having a piece on the players who have debuted so far this season, and if time allows today, the Phillies top 10 prospects (if that doesn’t come today, it will be out tomorrow).
The plan after today is to have 3-5 pieces each day, with Monday being the heaviest of the days. That does mean significant time, however, and while I do have a passion for writing about the game I love, I also am doing this in part to support my family, so please do strongly consider looking at the Patreon page and seeing how you may want to support the work being done through requesting reports done on players that you’re interested in!
