Hitter of the Day
With a number of good choices on the day, Ryan Kreidler takes the nod here with a perfect day at the plate for Toledo. He went 3-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in two runs on a pair of solo home runs, but the Mud Hens still fell to Rochester 6-3. Kreidler had a strong offensive season in 2021 between Double-A and Triple-A, smacking 22 home runs with a .803 OPS while playing the left side of the infield. He’s made a start at third and short so far this season for Toledo.
Pitcher of the Day
After setting Yankee Twitter aflutter in the offseason with a video of him popping triple digits, Hayden Wesneski had plenty of eyes on him entering 2022. He met the challenge in his first start of the season against Syracuse, going five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and no walks, striking out four. Wesneski sat mid-90s through the start with a curve that had hitters’ knees weak. The change was in and out during the game, and that’s the biggest question for Hayden whether his future is in the bullpen or rotation is the quality of the offspeed offering.
